Freda Bowers, passed away, May 12, 2017, at The Lakes Memory Care in Banning. She was born December 7, 1928 to Walter Swift and Lilian Black in Eccles, Manchester, England. She was the middle child between brothers Harry and Donald. She married Joseph Meanley, her first husband September 4, 1948. Having only one daughter, Ann. In 1957, they came to the United States settling in Huntington Park, and later in South Gate. Freda was widowed in 1974. Freda Bowers, passed away, May 12, 2017, at The Lakes Memory Care in Banning. She was born December 7, 1928 to Walter Swift and Lilian Black in Eccles, Manchester, England. She was the middle child between brothers Harry and Donald. She married Joseph Meanley, her first husband September 4, 1948. Having only one daughter, Ann. In 1957, they came to the United States settling in Huntington Park, and later in South Gate. Freda was widowed in 1974. She was very active with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary 2080, in South Gate.She was a member until her passing. It was there where she met Robert Bowers. They were married in 1979 until his passing in 2003. They both retired in 1989 and moved to Calimesa living at The Plantation on the Lakes where she enjoyed Bingo, and was actively involved with the Social Club and Homeowners. She made many friends there and throughout her life. She was loved by her family, daughter Ann (Dan); 2 grandchildren, Jason (Dora) and Jodi (Lester); six grandchildren, Jason, Ashley, Cheyenne, Christopher, Payton and Justin, along with 1 Great-Great-grandchild, Gavin. All of the children were the twinkle in her eye. Her love for family was unconditional. The family would like to thank The Lakes at Banning for the wonderful care.
