Barbara Ellen (Crabtree) Thompson 92, passed away on May 12, 2017. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born to Oris L. and Gertrude (Knight) Crabtree on April 18th, 1925 in Orosi, California. She lived in the San Joaquin Valley for a few years before moving to the Temecula area of Rainbow, where much of her extended family lived. Her grandparents, Jim and Annie Knight were early residents of the Temecula Valley. She grew up in Rainbow, graduating from Fallbrook Union High School in 1942. Barbara Ellen (Crabtree) Thompson 92, passed away on May 12, 2017. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born to Oris L. and Gertrude (Knight) Crabtree on April 18th, 1925 in Orosi, California. She lived in the San Joaquin Valley for a few years before moving to the Temecula area of Rainbow, where much of her extended family lived. Her grandparents, Jim and Annie Knight were early residents of the Temecula Valley. She grew up in Rainbow, graduating from Fallbrook Union High School in 1942. Immediately after high school, she began working for the telephone company in Oceanside, California. It was in San Diego at a USO dance, that she met her husband to be. They were married in 1946, had two sons and lived in Virginia for a year. They moved to Tucson, Arizona where she worked for Hughes Aircraft Company. They relocated to Fallbrook, California in 1953 before she and her husband purchased Beaumont Rexall Drug Company in 1958. They had their daughter Susan, shortly there after. Barbara was active in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Soroptimists as well as the American Field Service. They hosted a foreign exchange student Adrianna Fonzo from Argentina in 1976. After retirement in 1990, they spent six months of the year at their farm in Pearisburg, Virginia. Beaumont was always their home and it was here where she died surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, James B. "Tommy" Thompson, two sons Gene (Valerie) of Winn, Michigan, Gary (Karen) of Gig Harbor, WA and daughter Susan (Jack) DeBoer of Woodinville, WA. She also leaves twelve grandchildren Shannon (Rust), Jessica (Greg), Jennifer (Jeff), Rachel (Troy), Cory (Michael), Jeffrey (Sara), Daniel (Selena), Aaron (Jade), Matthew, Andrew, DeAnna and Sarah in addition to great grandchildren and other extended family.
